Police told to arrest innocent people to meet targets

Really?

Human government expands and needs income and resources to continue to expand. This leads to wars abroad to spread hegemony and police the takeover of land with desirable resources. This leads to wars domestically to create criminals out of victimless offenses and create a fear-based system of need for industrial complexes.

Simply put: the government requires income generation to continue its expansion. This is an absolute system that corrupts absolutely. And thankfully for that, my new catch phrase "haha, way to go statist idiots" has gained wings.

Stormsinger, yes, don't let the constant rise of police abuse videos persuade you otherwise.

I TOTALLY agree. The idea people would plaster police abuse videos all over YouTube because they saw how many views other people got for posting police abuse videos is patently absurd.

NordlichReitersays...

Stormsinger, aside from Blankfist's apparent passion, when a government has the majority of jobs it becomes a monster. It has to pay it's workers, ergo you can come to the conclusion that the proposed Hegemony could exist. While it may not exist in your eyes, I can see it clearly.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Iran, and the list goes on and on.

This: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/23/business/23labor.html, about how Union Members now work for the government.

And this, http://www.silentmajority09.com/2010/03/unemployment-could-be-stalled-by.html, while quiet dubious the Labor Quote on the page could suggest that the Federal Workforce is growing.

I don't know if you live in the states, but in one of those states there are so many "Law Enforcement Officers" you never know who you will have to deal with. There's the Sheriff of a city, City Police, Police of a County, the parks and recreation officers, the federal parks officers, US Customs, Department Of Homeland Security, Department of Public Safety (State Troopers), and the wonderful Special Security Officer.

I probably missed a few, but I only see the need for the Sheriff, Police, and State Troopers. The rest? Well they happen to exist because of a growing government, while not itself suspicious it could become a problem.

The fact that no one else seems to care, or have the means to care is what worries me.

That productivity quote was pretty scary to me. It's police work, not sales. If there's no crime, there's no police work to be done. That should viewed as a win and if possible reduce dept. size (hopefully through retirement, transfers, etc.) to better reflect policing needs.

[blankfist turns to leave but pauses in the doorway, then turns back to the others in the room before delivering...]

blankfist: "Way to go statist idiots!"

[Hearing the catch phrase, the audience gives a clamorous applause. Blankfist exits, filled with smug self-satisfaction.]

I'm with BF.

This guys story proves that there is no need for any police officers in this country whatsoever. Society should police themselves, because citizens aren't corrupt, only government workers or something like that.

And yeah, Nordlich goes with the old internet favorite "WAKE UP" comment, but spruced up for 2010! (now with links!)

I can't imagine that crime is decreasing in a time when a lot of people are underemployed if not unemployed outright. So hearing that they expect people to meet their "numbers" is just a stupid solution to a complex problem. When they could be using the non-inflated numbers to re-organize officer deployment to prevent more actual crime.

Of course there are those tax payers who sit by their window all day and want to see a patrol car go by every 60 minutes, or they complain. Just like there are people who complain when they see their mail delivery guy stop for a quick rest and some liquids when it's near 100 degrees out. So it's entirely possible their "meet the numbers" system is there as proof they are around in the eyes of the neighborhoods that have the complaints.

I'm impressed he gathered some actual hard evidence. Anyone know what exactly they mean by "1 and 20", "25 and 1" and "35 and 1"? What is that a ratio of?

The quota is 1 arrest and 20/25/35 summonses written each month. That's their "productivity goal".
