I still maintain that Microsoft isn't actually a software company, it's just a bunch of marketing.
Meeting for this ad must of been, "Let's just hammer the same rubbish until people accept it"

That's what is brilliant about Microsoft. They use millions of Beta testers (aka consumers) and then offer exceptional support for the end user product. On top of that updates and upgrades for existing software is always free. Yeah we complain and moan about it but it really is an ingenious marketing strategy that was risky to put in place.

Iniquity, the 45kb line was probably a big sell because I bet he was referring to the 640kb of conventional memory which, as anyone creating a boot disk in those days knew, was a supreme pain in the ass to free up in order to run certain apps or play certain games. (Ultima VII and VIII being some of the worst offenders.)

But, you know, that's just what I hear, I mean, I was out doing completely non-nerdy things every day. Who can ever be sure?
