Georgian Reporter Shot on Live TV

this is propaganda....why dont they panic more...not a single person seems to be scared of another shot! its just like the georgian president few days ago, running in the streets like rudy on 9/11 and then, out of the blue, panic, where all the bodyguards jumped on him to cover him while there were loads of cameras rolling. footage like that has enormous effect when its shown around the world, so its well worth doing it. anyone who looks at that footage closely, and this one, can easily see that they are both staged......

notice among other thing how he suggests they should run for cover while his bodyguard dont look like there is any danger on the way....

haha, this is a joke. this is so silly, that i cant believe anyone falls for it. honestly, imagen you are the camera-man or some other guy out there, would you respond like they did????? im pretty sure the americans came up with this idea, so the georgians would get some sympaty from the world...what the russians are doing is the same as the u.s did for kosovo...

I imagine that if this were staged, her reaction would have been more extreme, and they probably would have her wounded somewhere more vital. I mean, if you're doing some propaganda, why have someone grazed in the lower forearm? Why not have her screaming and writhing on the ground. If you've seen the footage of the Fox reporters running from the Russians, you'll notice that they don't seem all that freaked out, either. So I don't think this is necessarily faked.

she would have to be hospitalized, so that is a whole new ball-game, with a lot more people involved. and she would have to put on a recovery-show for weeks. this is easier. i havnt seen the fox-footage, but i think it was a bbc crew that came under fire from fighter-jets out in the country, it looked pretty scary but they acted cool, cos there was only one thing to do, and that was to move out of the area. but these folks just stand there, while bullets could fly thru the air any moment. they dont even think "hey, maybe i should duck a little, or seek cover by positioning me up against the car!". its kind of obvious they know nothing more will happen.....

The wound on her arm was swelling almost instantly after the fact. That signifies there was some impact, knife wounds don't swell like that.

She very well could have been shot, this stuff to them is regular. This is what happens every day in these countries. if it happened here in the US it would be spectacular, it would be ALL OVER THE PRESS!

Dead tofu, remember saving private Ryan? The sniper scene, you don't go any where or do anything except take cover. If you run, you become a target, if it indeed was a sniper then taking cover would be a good thing to do.

I would suspect that with the volume of fire it was a sniper, probably at long range judging by the wound.

The news is claiming this was a sniper attack, but given that it was a single shot and no further shots were fired (when everyone is standing around in the open like sitting ducks), I'm inclined to believe this was just a stray bullet. I think the news crew realized it too, due to the nonchalant reactions they had to the incident. If they seriously thought they were under fire, like the BBC crew they would have jumped in the van and gotten the hell out of there immediately.

NordlichReitersays...

We can't be sure about that. Snipers are known to do strange things. The sniper at fallujah(i think) for example: killed one soldier, and held his fire until they evacuated him. Then he just up and left.

i upvoted all the speculative comments because honestly, i just don't know what to believe any more.

i am sick of trying to comprehend world events via 60 second video clips from sources i can't possibly verify.

Rational but unfounded assessment: lucky accident for the propagandists. i would be less suspicious if she was a man. they'd never choose a man for propaganda purposes.

Although, I understand there is fake stuff out there, I believe that calling everything fake greatly discredits every video out there. Should we just ignore all the videos around the world - since they are ALL fake???

I wish people would stop calling FAKE unless they have PROOF! - Please.

(I think this merits some discussion)

Reporters are being killed in the conflict and part of the aim in these kinds of ethnic conflicts is to frighten the opposing ethnic group, so a sniper fucking with a reporter wouldn't necessarily be surprising. According to the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (wiki):

Four journalists were among hundreds killed in fighting between Russia and Georgia that began on 8 August 2008.

Cameraman Stan Storimans of Dutch television RTL-4 died and the station's Moscow correspondent was injured during Russian bombing of the Georgian town of Gori on 12 August, said Reporters Without Borders (RSF). Earlier in the day, RSF and the International News Safety Institute (INSI) reported that an unnamed Georgian reporter and his driver were killed when a shell hit their vehicle in Gori's main square.

One day earlier, Giga Chikhladze, head of Alania TV, and Alexander Klimchuk, head of the Caucasus Press Images agency and a correspondent for Itar-Tas, were killed in the breakaway republic of South Ossetia, apparently at a roadblock of pro-independence fighters.
Russian "Newsweek" reporter Orkhan Dzhemal said the journalists were attacked by South Ossetian militia after entering the conflict zone from Georgia, reported the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).

According to the Dai
ly Mail
:

Siege-town Gori has become a deadly 'sniper's alley' with citizens at the mercy of rampaging militiamen - believed to be from the breakaway republic South Ossetia - looting and firing guns, some drunkenly.

On Sunday video footage caught reporters from two Turkish stations ducking and saying their last prayers as they were fired upon by Russian snipers.

One of the journalists was hit in the eye but his injuries are reportedly not thought to be life-threatening.

There have been atrocities on both sides, so undisciplined militia men isn't necessarily surprising either.

For all of you saying..."wheres the bood"....you watch way to much TV. I once cut my leg on a piece of sheet metal...it was about 3 inches wide and about half an inch deep.....guess what....for the first 10 minutes there was no blood at all. It's called shock....ever hear of that guy in Oregon who got his arm crushed by a tree he was cutting down....after a while he decided to cut his arm off intead of being trapped and dieing out there.....I bet there wasn't very much blood from that either.....he's still alive. Oh and by the way...they did take cover. They took cover behind the van. So stop acting like your a bunch of experts when clearly your not.

A bullet from most modern military rifles would have torn her arm off with their spin. This is probably some sort of fake or she was lucky X10 to get hit/grazed in a lucky place, by a very old weapon, by a guy with only one bullet. Not to say that couldn't happen. Each death in a war has its own story and there are plenty of lucky escapes.
