An undersea volcano, located about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) southeast of Tonga's Fonuafo'ou island and about 65 kilometers (40 miles) north of Nuku'alofa, erupted on Saturday, January 15, 2022 causing large Tsunami waves around the immediate region of the volcano and the issuance of Tsunami advisories in Alaska and the West Coast of the United States.
