I find it facinating how as the earth appears to be rotating in the beginning the perspective keeps changing; ie. Earth appears to be round then space appears to be round. I can only think it has something to do with the focal length of the lens but that doesn't seem to make sense.

Hey Spoon i think its does have to do with the camera view, and the roundess of the lense. But it could just be a trick of the eyes compounded by the camera. You know how you look at water at a certain angle and it surface becomes reflective? Maybe the suns reflection on the earths atmosphere caused the light to make the earth appear to be flat. Volume lighting has a strange effect on cameras, but then again it could have been the camera lense was affected by the heat of rentry.
