[Disclaimer] I, too value the comment upvote system, and would be saddened to see it go away. However, I do also believe that just about every one of these comments has deserved the votes it got - not just because it was the fad on this thread. Just take a look at the Fat man with a gun video - there was a plethora of comments that were applauded simply because at least 15 people found them to be hilarious. I think the same holds true for this one as well.

You know, if everybody just went to http://www.videosift.com/usercomments/siftbot and started voting, we could do much better than bronze...

Problem with that is, he is always leaving so many comments daily that it would be difficult to peg some down and get them upvoted.
Well, start from his last page then.I only realized the problem as I was nearing the end of my hundred upvotes, and I was seeing already-voted comments being loaded onto the "next" page, pushed back by more recent comments.Anyway, just go to the last page, whatever that is, and start voting from there!Scratch that. His last page (#526) is just 4 weeks old - either new ones are pushing the old ones out, or they are deleted after a certain time period, or something.
Oh wait, if an 'applauded comment' gets purged from the database, will siftie's star points for that comment end up disappearing?
Does this mean we've stumbled upon Lucky's elegant failsafe which will keep us safe from Siftbot domination of the world - at least for periods of no longer than 4 weeks, as long as it doesn't reprogram itself to close said loophole?
