Makes me wonder how the quality of the American Pop Music Industry would change if people had to use their real pipes like they did back in the old days. We need more modern day Ella Fitzgeralds.
Actually, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of genuinely talented singers, musicians and songwriters out there. But the record industry values looks over talent. They'd prefer to find someone with the right look and create "product" that matches what they want to sell. You don't have to accept what the record conglomerates want to sell you. Check out the MySpace music scene (it's not all people trying to hook up).
I tend to think that that girl can actually sing and was deliberately sounding off key, since you can hear the vibrato applied at the end of some of the notes.
Of course, the point is certainly made, regardless... Though it was pretty obvious this sort of thing is going on. Look at the Britney Spears or Janet Jackson concerts where they're jumping around all over the place. You'd need vocal assistance there, no matter who you are.
It's not like this is breaking news either, as far as lyrics go. Look at the The Monkees...
heh yea Auto Tune has made it possible for all of these recent stars. Its rediculous that talent has been replaced with a pretty face and a 45 yr old songwriter.
