i getcha so it's just got a video function like every other digital stills camera but it's the first that does full HD? i mean it looks lovely...
i do low budget stop motion with stills cameras, which gets really nice quality without an expensive video camera, and i was just thinking that's what this video was going to be, so i got confused when it wasn't.
fudge it, upvote.

that is incredible. I laughed abit when i heard the d90, the replacement to the d80 will have a video feature, but i guess i can see where it would work.

not that i would even try to compare a camera in the d80s range to a full frame 5d, and i've always liked Canon more than Nikon, except when it comes to sensitivity.

you really have to wonder if getting a high end HD camcorder would do the same job for less the price, probably, considering the $3000 price mark for the body alone and 8 of the 12 or more lenses used are $1500 or more, especially ones as bright as f2.0.

In the mean time, look for price drops for the brilliant orignal 5ds leading to the mark II's release. WOO HOO!

How did this not make it out to the front page? Maybe you should beg it and link the description to a dpreview list of features. EDIT: Maybe also link to the original LaForet video in full HD - the quality really got lost here.

The 5D Mark II is going to be an incredible step forward for DSLR cameras. I was just looking at a 24P standard def video camera (using MiniDV) that was about $3,000 - this 21-megapixel monstrosity will cost less that with all its bells and whistles.

In other words, DO WANT.

my camera, a nikon d70, hasnt that many megapixels, but some decent lenses in front and a good photographer behind it, and the results are decent enough I make my daily bread by writing music, but ive also sold licenses for a few photos (via a photo library).
