Zoot Suit Soundie (1942) Dorothy Dandridge

Deanosays...

<slightlyseriousmodeon>

It's interesting to me that the girl is so light-skinned. I mean she is very, very pale. And it persists to this day that romantic pairings in cinema seem to follow the same rule when black people are involved. I recall that as recently as the film Hitch starring Will Smith. They subbed in Eva Mendes instead of a black actress because else it wouldn't play well with the intended audience.

I find this slightly depressing. <off>

Enjoyable clip though, more please.
