Yellow Sticky Notes

From YouTube description:
After realizing that yellow sticky note "to do" lists were consuming his life, animation filmmaker Jeff Chiba Stearns decided to visually self-reflect on his filmmaking journey by animating on the same sticky notes that caused him to ignore major world events for the last nine years. Animation meditation is blended with image, text, and an original musical score by Genevieve Vincent through the creation of a classically animated experimental film that was drawn straight ahead with only a black ink pen on over 2300 yellow sticky notes. Fine, Sifty. I'll let someone else add the tag while I go do 20 gesture drawings.

Inspiring. I wrote him the following email, because I fancy myself a man of action:

Jeff,

I just watched your Sticky Notes animation and wanted to let you know it moved me to tears. I’m in the middle of a self renaissance, but sadly, I recognize the pattern and am afraid that I will spend the next 5 years being moved to tears with no change. I spend my days dulling out wisdom, yet I feel hollow and immovable; inspired by others, and yet, uninspired to create. I am an artist and a writer who has created nothing of worth. I’m at work making games work, yet I cannot make me work.

I feel, however, a bit closer to freedom after having watched your animation. Thanks.

Oh come on, people, stop praising every person for being introspective and deep because they made a cartoon and set it to weepy music. It's a fun little cartoon, I'll give you that, but am I the only one that thought he was quick to give up on his dreams? The guy graduates in 2001 and by 2001 he's ready to throw in the towel and become a school art teacher because of 9/11. Way to give it the ol' Canadian try there buddy. Pansies. That's why they never gained their independence from England until 1982!

Oh wait, is this not still Zifnab's roast? No? Oh. Shit.

It really is a shame that a fan of Peter Sellers and marijuana could be such a "tawdry" chap. Then again, my brother is a fan of Douglas Adams and retains the Christian upbringing instilled upon us from birth. Humans are such silly creatures.

Meh. Post-its caused him to ignore the world around him for 9 years?

This certainly had potential to be a powerful message about how we turn our back on the world to solve our own selfish problems but I found the execution lacking. It's not terrible by any means. Just didn't deliver on what it promised.

Real art!

Post-its didn't cause him to ignore the world... this constant need to plan, execute, always be achieving something did. Post-its are the symbol of that drive.

I find it kind of depressing how he ends up being an animation teacher.
