Unfortunately, the American flag lapel pin has become something of an "asshole indicator" in my book for reasons illustrated in this video.

Sad, because it would otherwise be a benign indicator of support and pride, instead of a symbol of mindless obedience to some twisted, fucked up vision of "patriotism" fueled by fear that has been promoted throughout the Bush years.
