is this in response to my comment from earlier today?

The first one I ever heard was 'Release the Beast' not long after Discovery came out. The instrumental end to that Barry Manilow track is totally rad... seriously!

I love the old sample war. I know people who get really upset about it. The sooner you realize pretty much everything is taken from somewhere else in one way or another the more you'll just enjoy the music for what it is.

Is this necessary? I always knew they sampled. It's in the bloody album sleeves.

Well it should be considered more educational than a slam. Although the video maker doesn't really make it clear what their intent was.

I actually went through this stuff on the blog last week because my mate was getting really upset about how close the tracks are to the original.

I think it's a cool sift but there are people who may be a tad shocked to discover that the sampling process is taken to such a degree.

If you get a chance check out the original of that Release the Beast track. It's great.

Interesting, always felt there was some underlying reason why I hated this album, it sounded too familiar/gimmicky in places and now I know why....Homework is by far a better album imho. Viva da funk...

...anybody else notice how one of Anthony and the Imperials looks exactly like Kool Keith as the Black Elvis?... just me?... okay.

"release the beast" is great, but the other original songs here aren't really very good at all. nowhere near as good as the daft punk songs, anyway. that's because dance music is mostly to do with repetition and dynamics, not originality. people who overrate originality don't usually like dance music much anyway...

for the ultimate in daft punk "sample" technique, find their "remix" of take me out by franz ferdinand. it's just the entire original song with a massive blast of white noise that builds up on top of it. it's a big, big improvement...

found the take me out remix you were talking about, plastiquemonkey. I like it. I'm going to send to my anti-sampling friend, he's gonna hate it

Aww, beat me to it. I just found the video after browsing through this useful site and then going to YouTube to find if anyone had made any videos based on Ishkur's work.
