As a graphic designer myself, I can say I deal with this on a daily basis.
Obviously created by designers, I think every office manager that puts a concept together should be made to watch this.

We just keep saying..."sure, I can do that!"
My favorite comeback was always, "Sure, I can, I can do anything you want, It's a computer..., but ah, what is your budget because the more we do, the more money we spend".

TRUE.

The problem is that clients (for some reason) think they are designers, and they are hiring a photoshop operator.

In millions of other services, they just trust the provider and pay the price.

But designers, (for some reason) can't get any sleep.

I restrict myself to working for other creative people because they understand at least 10% of what I am trying to do.

^ It's also true in the programming industry. Rather than just giving the requirements, lots of business groups want to control the design as well, though usually they wait until after testing is complete to make their "suggestions".

I'm gonna say *politics on this too, since I think this makes a nice parable about the dangers of privatization.
