Alternately, it could exist solely to make us laugh at an overeager Jedi jerkoff that went all emo with his abilities and ran full-tilt off a very obvious cliff.

I don't get it. I presume in the film he did something slowly when he could have done it quickly? Colour me confused. It would probably help if I remembered the film. Or even which film.
In the movie, Obi-Wan runs forward but has to stop because the very last forcefield closes, giving him a front row seat to watching his master get pwned.
The video implies that if he had used the power known as "Force Speed," (available in several Star Wars video games) he would have made it through the last door, but then there's a giant pit at the end...
