And then, when I want to go out and meet my friend at the café, I call up Ubiquity and type GO NORTH > OPEN DOOR > GO NORTH > TAKE KEY > OPEN DOOR WITH KEY > USE KEY ON DOOR > OPEN DOOR > GO NORTH

Ubiquity: we make integrated web-use intoa text adventure game.

still pretty clunky. Makes me nostalgic for the future.

Linux is powerfull. Its power comes form text. Knowledge of that text. GUI's bypass text. Provide visual ques as to possible text. If youve learnt and memorised all comands, your fine. IF you've a gui, you can see the comands even if your not using them.

Text is powerfull. High learning curve. this is a user barrier.

Seems a bit similar to Greasemonkey, but with more typing involved.

Greasemonkey is cool and I use it but that works on a site by site basis, often without the need for any user intervention. This seems more about creating mashups on the fly and saving time in the process. There's a good example in the video of selecting a number of addresses and then typing "map-these" to get a mapped view.

Some things are working well but some aren't for me - this might be due to my browser setup but it's all quite intriguing.

Not really. Greasemonkey only works after you install a specific script to handle a specific task on a specific webpage. For example, the De-ad Facebook strips ads from Facebook feeds. You, the user need to be proactive to use it.

Ubiquity has a list of commands you can use (which can be auto-updated) to handle useful things. Email this to someone. Map this place. Translate this. Calculate 339/108. Ubiquity is reactive to what you, the user, want at that moment.

The key is that it combines webpages or webpage actions together.
