It's when they try and take our firearms and right to bear arms away is when we should be worried. I doubt that will ever happen without some kind of very large conflict within our own country.
All of our guns won't do us any good if our own government decides to shut off the power and stop the food trucks from running. And, yeah, some people can live off the land, but most of the population lives in urban and suburban areas. It's far more likely that people will turn their guns on each other rather than the government. All the gov't would have to do is wait until the smoke clears, then pick up the guns from the ashes.
QM, Obama's stormtroopers will all be black as night, and which side of the Mason-Dixon line do you think they're mostly in?
I'm gonna have fun watching people run their imaginations wild about the evil that Obama is doing, especially since it's already going at a good pace, and we're still some 40+ days from him being sworn in.
Hell, Clinton hadn't even sobered up from the victory parties by this point in his transition. Let's give Obama another 90 days before accusing him of building a secret army, okay?
They have apparently forgotten this 'plan' is now being revealed after it was devised and slated for implementation during the Bush administration. They haven't quite figured out that Obama doesn't sit on the throne and affect policy until January of 2009. I guess they don't even understand how the government of the so-called nation that they are so 'uber patriotic' about actually works.
But.. I can't fault them for their 'edumukashun'.
Shroom's mentioned 'stormtroopers' are the very troops he so strongly supported under a redneck administration.
So.. what about 'support our troops and our president or find another country to live in?' What about 'You are with us or against us?'. How does it feel to be on the 'other side'.... My Friends.
They're going to help law enforcement when needed. This is new?
Omg, we're going to station "uniformed" troops inside the USA? Wait, isn't that already the case? I don't know how many troops are stationed at Ft Bragg, but I'm pretty sure they wear uniforms already.
They're going to help law enforcement when needed. This is new?
One would assume this proposition does not pertain to having 20,000 uniformed troops residing in the U.S., but rather to officially document circumstances in which these troops may be utilized.
In haste, I consider this frighting. We have observed over the past few years the vague and ever expanding definition of "Homeland Security", surely most of which is known only by select Washington insiders and within the intelligence field. If we now start training our military to police our own citizens within our own borders on grounds that we know little of, we end up with what one could consider a silent military state. At the very least, no grounds to deny such.
One could take the idea of our military policing the citizens to an extreme and conclude many horrific scenarios. Fortunately, I think U.S. citizens are much to resilient to stand down if widespread atrocities were to be committed.
Even still, I believe that brushing this off as a formality of the times has a bigger potential for regret, than to consider the extremes so that we may have the intellectual means to realize these extremes are maturing.
