That poor little barricade had no chance

Oh Snap!

I guess they were going to different fires. And I've never thought of this before, but I guess their own siren gives them the impression that everyone hears them coming, except for vehicles using the exact same siren sound. Maybe they should coordinate their chosen sirens in order to avoid audio synchronicity. Like beep beep beep and woanh woanh woahn brrrrrrr

Were they heading to different fires? Also it looks like the truck that got cut off suffered minimal damage. If after stoping and checking to make sure all personel on the other truck is safe, are they able to resume their emergency call without being cited for a hit and run?

I think the truck that flipped could have made it if he would not have stepped on the brakes briefly when he noticed the other truck coming from the right (@ about 00:06)

From my understanding, firetrucks and ambulances do not have carte blanc to run red-lights. They can do so but should do it cautiously. The firetruck coming towards the screen should have slowed down at the intersection.

I believe the legal jargon is "when safe to do so".

All emergency services can run a red light, or speed, or generally break any road law they want, when its in an emergency situation, and its safe to do so.

I've watched this at least 5 times. Just to see if you can see the reactions of the firemen inside.

Happened in toronto, or so my news reported, big highrise fire, both trucks where going to it, both failed to stop for the red. *no injuries.

You got a link? Those traffic lights have black backgrounds, in Toronto they're yellow. I did find a link to an SUV smacked with a fire truck though.

Then there's this related news story; it doesn't reference this incident in particular: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2008/06/27/burlington-fire.html

Trucks to go slower (follow speed limits, and the other rules) to avoid this sort of thing.

Guess it happens pretty often.

I wonder how long it took them to turn the siren off on the overturned truck? Man, if someone was taking a nap in their apartment above this intersection, they sure had a bad day.
