I've never seen that trailer, and I completely agree it is an awful one! Soooo generic!

Definitely not re-make it, I agree.
I meant re-release it .. the original movie. With proper marketing etc.

I too remember seeing the trailer in front of a few movies in summer 1993 and being uninterested. Then my friend told me it had the coolest "talking" and best violence he had ever seen in a movie, so I rented it. I was absolutely blown away. I've owned a few different versions, and I've probably watched the movie two dozen times. It didn't hurt that I was working occasionally at a comic book store around the time I saw it.
