The Trikke is a machine you ride and propel by wiggling your body in a way that's Zen training on three wheels. It puts into direct use the conservation of angular momentum -- if you carry a mass through a turn around a center with a radius that decreases while you're turning, then your linear velocity will increase. You move the Trikke by leaning and 'S-turning' your way through a succession of these turns. The Trikke manages to turn all this physics into a fun ride as well as a no-impact aerobic workout (good for aging skeletons).

An older (65-ish) guy uses one of these on the bike path where I run. He goes very slowly, not much faster than walking pace, but based on the different locations where I've seen him he must cover a lot of ground, at least three miles. It also seems like a very inefficient motion but if you're doing it for fitness (instead of transportation) then maybe you wouldn't care. It's certainly lower impact than running and less prone to cause injury than roller-blading.

^ Interesting.. I'm going to try one at a store in CA next week. I'm hoping since I've done downhill and crosscountry skiing, and rollerblading, that I'll get the hang of it.

They sure look smooth when ridden well. People are passionate about these things, there are also clubs of riders.
