OK, my geek pride is a bit wounded by the implication that 'we' didn't already know this.
That was really one of the cool things about that scene, the way Hal's brain digresses back to his first programming. But before this I'd only read about Daisy being the first synthesized voice program. Awesome to finally hear it.
