The TSA Doesn't Have to Answer Your Questions
tags:"Who the hell do these people think they are? All police officers are required to have business cards this includes the TSA. I noticed a high number of Homeland Security/TSA agents running amuck around the new Phoenix [taxpayer funded 1800's technology locomotive]...errrrr I mean light rail grand opening. Why were the TSA at the light rail? I believe the state took matching Federal Funds to build this locomotive so does that in turn give the TSA jurisdiction over the light rail. Everyone at the grand opening seemed to work for the government and It was a complete and utter Police state. Sheriffs department mixed with Local police mixed with private security mixed with Homeland security and on and on everywhere. The TSA officers and even some local police were acting very strange and refused to give me their full name and/or business cards. One officer told me to go look "at" the phone book for his supervisor....huh WTF?
So I ask you is this what we have to look forward to or was this because of this light rail unveiling? Is wearing black masks to cover their identity next? Is that when we will know it's over? Why would they act like this?" [YT]

Maybe they got a phone call where someone threatened to bomb the light rail. If that was why the case, and they all knew it, I certainly wouldn't expect any of them to tell you. They'd probably get fired if they did.
They do security. It's pretty obvious why they're there. Security. I don't know what answer that guy was looking for.

Soo.. the Transportation Security Administration is monitoring the unveiling of a light rail system? Is that really so strange? They weren't being dicks, they just couldn't tell you why they were there.

However, the agents acting sheepish and being unwilling to give out their contact details isn't exactly helping; and as so many of them were doing it then it seems like a misguided organizational policy. Just because you're security doesn't mean you have to stop being human.
They could have answered his dumb question with an amicable 'I work for Transportation security, I'm on security detail for the opening of some... transportation!
dude schmawy, i fully support your damn the man series. but this one just makes me hate the 4409 people. snotty little prick. they were being nice and respectful, they were working. they were during SECURITY for TRANSPORTATION. jesus christ. maybe hes not aware of what TSA stands for. maybe he should take his beef to someone higher up the chain. these tools were just doing their jobs.
