I like this Bill Hicks bit -- the message is one I try to remind myself of when I take things too seriously (school, people, etc etc).

But having said that, I think that only those of us who live well (ie., in peace, in safety, in the developed world) have the luxury of being able to tell ourselves that it's just a ride. Most of the population of Africa, for example, or of the Indian subcontinent, is not going to dig it if you try telling them that.
