The O'Reilly Guilt Trip

Joan Walsh calmly takes O'Reilly to the woodshed. I was suprised she got in the bit at the very end.

Bill projects his guilt onto Walsh by saying blood is on HER hands!

Heh, you beat me by only a couple of minutes

Gawker has a good analysis of what Walsh did right here. It basically comes down to this:

"- Remain calm.
- Finish your sentences, even if O'Reilly interrupts you.
- Do your research and form your soundbites ahead of time.
- Don't raise your voice higher than Bills, or get more emotional. This way, he looks like the crazy one, as nature intended.
- Leave no charge unanswered, even if it sounds absurd. Especially if it sounds absurd."

Every question Bill asks is a trap. She did an excellent job handling them!

Agreed, this whole interview when he kept pushing her to "Answer the question!!!" I was waiting for her to simply say:

"That's an unfair question, and if you believe the law should be followed then we don't need to address the moral aspects of this. (then a semi-unfair question back) Now you tell me Bill, do you believe we as a society should have to follow the laws that we have created?"

Hate is a strong word, but I can say with confidence that I hate Bill O' Reilly.

^ahem - This is excusable.

>> ^EndAll:
I hope one day some nutty fucker pulls a Tiller-style assassination on old O'Reilly, as he's leaving the studio.

^This is not.

There is a big difference between having emotions (even strong ones) and suggesting that someone should act on them.

Jaacesays...

OMG STOP GOING ON HIS FUCKING SHOW IDIOTS! If you stop going there, he will lose his 'controversy ratings' and hopefully fade into non-existence. By fueling his hatefire and going for interviews on his show where ALL he does is verbally attack you loudly so you can't argue, you are giving him more power.

Please. Stop.

In retrospect I admit the comment(s) I made were pretty fucked up. I don't actually wish death upon Bullshit Bill, as much as I do loathe the man.

Well, I ain't gonna cry when he goes.

And it couldn't happen too soon.

He is causing very real harm to this country.

As far as I understand, the term "Late Term" is patently absurd when referring to a fetus. Doctors never use it. Because a "term" technically (in a medical [not o'reilly] context refers to the birth itself (or, rather, when the actual pregnant stage is ending). Thus "late term" would suggest a moment after the birth. Therefor, no such thing as a "late term fetus."

Ergo, fuck off and die, Billo.

She did a good job. Bill-O was clearly frustrated that he couldn't control the conversation like he's used to, and the issue clearly got to him, since he kept projecting the "blood on your hands" argument.

I saw this when it was aired and Bill pwn3d Joan Walsh. She is nothing more than a bleeding heart liberal who kept trying to change the subject. Good for Bill to call her out on doing that and making her admit she supports killing babies.

On a side note the girl describing her experience with an abortion by Tiller was chilling. Using saline that burns the baby to death and then push it out into a toilet... awful.

Don_Juansays...

Bill O'Reily exists in a world of fear, inseurity, and uncertainty of reality. He is an anchor for those people also experiencing doubts they cannot admit to themselves about the totally disempowering religious programs (mental viruses) they have been indoctrinated (infected) with by their parents since childhood.

I pity those folks their loss of personal, individual freedom in their life experience, and hope for true freedom of all members of our species in the future.

Shepppardsays...

I'm not sure if you're a troll yet, but you definitely don't seem to fit in with the crowd here. Bill didn't PWN anybody, all he did was talk loud and in circles, like he normally does. And, as for "Killing Babies" you're definitely in the wrong place because there's a large base of people on the sift who are Pro-choice.

And you want to talk about changing the subject? How bout at the end, where she calls him out on having people actually listen to the garbage that's been spewed from him and took it to the point of killing people, TWICE, and then all he can say of is "We know where you're coming from, coming up next."

What did you think they did, put a lollipop under a 1 tonne weight and wait for the featus to come get it Wile E. Coyote style?!?

I don't think anyone would quibble with the fact that abortion is not a pleasant process for anyone involved, particularly the featus.. So it's good that 'bleeding hearts' are actually out there councilling women who are considering abortion so that it's not the first option, it's the last... Rather than shooting doctors, blowing up clinics and making an ass of themselves on television.

Or would you prefer the mother go and get a coathanger and try to scrape the baby out, not only 'terminating it' (let's call a spade a spade, tearing it to pieces), but massively increasing the chances that she will die from either a placental haemorrhage or sepsis? Two deaths for the price of one sounds good to the right wing?

So it's good that 'bleeding hearts' are actually out there councilling women who are considering abortion so that it's not the first option, it's the last...

That's not entirely true. In fact, in many cases, it is quite the opposite. There are a lot of 'bleeding heart liberal' abortion advisors who advocate abortion as the first choice.

The initial question was fairly simple. "Do late term fetuses deserve any protections at all?" Initially it looked like they were actually going to have a decent discussion on it, and then it quickly devolved into the "Yes they do" "No they don't" "You're mean" "You're a jerk" stuff typical of the genre. Oh well.

potchi79says...

All he did was repeatedly throw a reactionary "question" at her. There's no way to answer that.. "Yes Bill, I hate babies." It's like asking do your parents know you're gay? Bill's viewers can't see this for what it is.

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

Of course it is possible to reasonably answer the initial question. In fact, whuzerbucket was doing so fairly well from that perspective until the discussion flew into la-la land. "Do late term fetuses deserve any protections at all?" is only a 'reactionary' question to someone who comes from a radical 'no abortion is bad' position. There are many perfectly reasonable answers to the question (such as those she started off with). The question in and of itself is fine. It coming for O'Rielly may not please you, and his subsequent questions certainly may not, but that one was fine.

ShakaUVMsays...

It's amusing to watch Walsh weasel like that.

O'Reilly: Do late term fetuses have any rights at all?
Walsh: You know, that's a really tough question... /Weasel /weasel /weasel.

It doesn't help her case that Tiller's late term abortions were all (as in 100%) performed due to fraudulent "mental hardship" medical exemptions granted by Tiller and his friend, the rubberstamp.

Her whole bit about chemotherapy is smokescreen - read the facts, people.
