We need to turn it around, and quick.
1. Completion of the Human Genome Project in 2000.
2. Growing a new trachea from patients' own cells in 2008.
3. Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan got into a tiff in 2007, thereby altering the course of history.
Anything else?
Funny how the only time a country apart from the United States of Arrogance gets a mention is when they're invaded by the US
Various terrorist bombings, natural disasters, and elections were mentioned for other countries.

Amazing and a little sickening how US-centric this was. Does Madonna kissing Brittany seriously deserve a mention? Our poor world.
Newsweek is an American magazine. ...No, Brittany and Madonna don't deserve to be on there.
"The American Decade in Seven Minutes"
overall pretty good though.
Yes it is, and it claims to be "everything you need to know about the decade." Apparently you don't need to know anything that didn't directly involve Americans or people in countries we invaded.
Its pretty subjective to claim you know what Americans need to know about the decade any better than the editors of Newsweek.
