The Day in 100 Seconds: Remembering Ted Kennedy

Rottysays...

Perhaps someone needs a history lesson on the Kennedys:
- bootleggers
- election buyers (jfk election)
- the Massachusetts Bar was just one of many bars this guy was a member of
- negligent homicides (Mary Jo Kopechne)
- inter-family adulterers...What *did* happen to Marylin Monroe, anyway...she just "up and killer herself"?

Go "GOOGLE" it and then double promote that.

I don't have any notions of "Camelot", but I also know that I'm not perfect by any stretch and that this man did a lot of good for people over his lifetime, more than I ever will. But nothing I say will matter to a person like you. The man is dead but that's not good enough. You want to dance and piss on his grave. You're disgusting.

Rottysays...

I'm not dancing or pissing on anyone's grave. This guy has been dead for decades. The only thing propping him up was his name. The fact is that the kennedys were pushed onto America by its family's ill-gotten wealth and power.

If you want to go "Boo-hoo"ing his death, that's fine. But let's not forget the kennedy history, becuase it's not a "bullshit conspiracy theory", its fact. If Situational ethics make you sleep better at night then have sweet dreams.

*discuss abuse of power.

The members who are so sure of who we want on this site, and are willing to ban members for no apparent "gross violations" are ruining my Sift experience.

If you look at the threads, the Sift populace can handle it, some shine so brightly against these oppositional posts. I consider it incredibly presumptuous to ban members for dissenting opinions. It makes my experience here less rich and less challenging. A bunch of boring videos busting on O'reilly, Beck and Limbaugh. How enlightening is that?

I don't want someone to say "yeah, that VideoSift site is pretty cool, but they'll ban you if you're not a liberal". I can feel why choggie imploded and MINK scrambled his password. Blech.

bobknight33's comment record is iffy, and celebrating the death of a fellow human being is flat out disgusting. I don't see any loss to the site here, but I suppose reasonable people could disagree on just exactly where the fine line between troll and dumb asshole actually lies.

Anyway, my well intentioned Schmawy, if you'd like to siftquisition this ornery outlaw or start a sift talk post, go for it. In the mean time, we should probably return this video for the viewing pleasure of the rest of the sift. I'll let you do the returning, lest you shackle me too, sheriff McWhiskers. If I know my issy, I'm sure she will abide by the prevailing attitudes of the site.

I think bobknight33 should be unbanned in the meantime, while you guys sort this out. If it's decided that he broke the rules, he can be rebanned, right?

I would've thanked god too for Ted Kennedy's death, but I won't. I'm an atheist.

dft: our glorious leader had to abolish siftquisitions due to a community vote a couple of months ago. me, I still think that was an extremely stupid decision on 'our' part, but it means any additional punishment is up to dag now.

For what it's worth, I agree with schmawy - I don't think that simpleton had to be banned, at least not yet (I'll admit it might have seemed he was going for it though).

When I found out he was banned I looked over his comments and definitely did not like what I saw, but I was quite sure he was all about dissenting (and crudely formulated) 'opinion', not trolling.

But disregard that, because this really IS a clear-cut case: nobody should be banned for expressing happiness at the death of someone else. I'm not even going to Godwin this discussion for the sake of example, I think the vast majority of Sifters should already know better. Issy of all people.
