I still don't get that argument that man made global warming is a moneymaking scam. As opposed to what? The trillions that are made annually by those honest, hardworking oil companies? If you follow the money on both sides of the argument, it's pretty damn clear who is trying to protect their assets.

Ryjkyjsays...

A portion of the population, those with power included, will always try to shamelessly profit off of whatever happens to be popular, especially fear.

But if someone is trying to promote a positive idea, and others try to profit off of it, that does not mean that the idea is wrong.

Global warming/climate change is one of the least understood topics of conversation on earth. NO ONE knows anything about it for certain and the most logical scientists (in my opinion) admit that a LOT of it is not fully understood.

If man is affecting the atmosphere with carbon emissions, it might just as well have the effect of freezing the earth solid. No one really knows for sure. THAT's why it's important to talk about.

There's $$$ to be made and tales of doom to be sold, told, and molded. Diversion; a game played by those skilled in the fine art of bullshit.

Right. I wonder what fantasy country you live in where the multi-trillion dollar wind and solar power industry is funding lobbyists and scientists to distort the truth so they can make vast profits from clean energy.

"hur hur the big oil companies who run this country, like the tobacco industry, will never use diversion or play the game of bullshit! I am not a giant hypocrite: i know statistiks therefore I am qualified to say the data is wrong even tho I haven't analyzed the data myself LOLOLOLOL"

O.K., Global Warming IS real!!! I would like to offer a very effective hand operated fan to offset the warm. Only $25 for you, special price. I also offer you, at a special price, a small battery driven fan with a compartment for ice, that will keep you cool. If the warming should NOT happen, I offer you, at a special price, a comfy snuggle blankie for only $24.99. In addition, I offer an invisible condom that not only is invisible, but cannot be felt by anyone at a special price of $25, just for you!

Luckily we have google for people who don't get stuff. Here is a lobbyist. And here is a moneymaking scheme.

You can't deny this any more than you can deny global warming. Taxing oil makes little difference to the companies as the prices will go up, so you and I will be the ones paying for it. Whether or not warming is everything it's made out to be, the economic consequences cannot be ignored.>> ^MaxWilder:

I still don't get that argument that man made global warming is a moneymaking scam.

I don't get how you don't get it. The talks in Kyoto... Copenhagen... Cap & Trade... EVERY big 'solution' proposed by Warmers revolves NOT around actually improving the environment, but is all about money. The 'plan' under discussion in Carbonhagen is to take literally TRILLIONS of dollars from taxpayers. And you don't think that there is a single person among all those Warmers who isn't on the take for that big pile of largely unregulated, unsupervised, and unaccountable cash? You think that the so-called 'scientists' aren't on the take for millions in grant money to fund thier faux 'research' and churn out faux 'findings'? This is all about money.

MycroftHomlzsays...

I don't get how you don't get what MaxWilder doesn't get.

"You think that the so-called 'scientists' aren't on the take for millions in grant money to fund thier faux 'research' and churn out faux 'findings'? This is all about money."

Are you implying that I and all the other "scientists" fake our data to get grant money?

On behalf of the scientific community , I bid you adieu sir.

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

We have evidence now that primary figures in the so-called 'scientific community' were pre-disposed to be deceptive and misleading. They abandoned credibility for money. It was proven that they artificially weighted results. It was proven they had not been able to explain fundamental contradictions to thier conclusions. It was proven that their models were statistical gibberish. When asked to supply the data they used to make their specious conclusions, they admitted they threw it away. They lobbied to have opposing points of view suppressed from journals so that the appearance of 'consensus' was not disturbed by the harsh reality that 'peer reviews' were stacked by biased sources favorable to them. Their financial records proved they received huge amounts of money from politically motivated sources.

I've seen the data. The emperor has no clothes. The 'science' is nothing but unsupportable guesses garnished with faulty data and motivated by political payola. And yet the Warmer koolaid drinkers are still trying to jump the Hale-Bopp comet to Heaven's Gate based on pure faith. But the 'scientists' were on the take, had no proof, and who refused to undergo actual peer challenges. When faced with real scrutiny they have all been forced to admit they can't prove human activity is linked to temperatures. Period.

It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDW0ZnZxjn4

Oh here we go again...it's a conspiracy of the scientists to get rich by exploiting our fears!

I have put up with this shit long enough. From what I can see, there's really only three choices when it comes to explaining the stance of AGW deniers. They're either delusional, lying, or just plain stupid.

So...which is it?

My vote is lying, but they -could- just be a bunch of stupid fucks...I -know- a few of them are.

Nithernsays...

Winstonfield claims he's seen all the data on global warming. Yeah.....sure....

To have seen ALL the data on global and climate knowledge, would take up 57 years of straight reading (assuming no one writes another book from this moment onward). In addition, that Winstonfield observed personally, EVERY, lecture given. Both with those recorded, and was their personally when they were not. If anyone is getting the idea, that Winstonfield's arguement is just alittle exaggerated...you might be correct.

Scientists look at data differently then do lay-persons would of data. Its to look at the data, and then try to give the best explainition for the data AT PRESENT. Winstonfield would do well to get a scientific education, before opening his mouth, and gush gibberish of flimsy thought.

There's more then enough data that points out, what scientists are explaining. Unfortunately, scientists, are not often good at explaining stuff to non-scientists. Sort of like how not many thought Michael Jackson was a genius of a musician, but instead, a wacko.

If you think climate change is not taking place, then the burden of evidence is up to you, to prove. For the moment, the evidence seems to point that there is a direct link between man's usage of things, and the climate worsening.

I find that Winstonfield is simply a conservative Republican lap dog. Saying and doing anything his masters wish, with total obedience and unwavering fanatic behavior. If they told him, the sky will be yellow zig zaps, purple poka-dots, and red curvy lines, three weeks from now. He would be on here, saying so, without an ounce of evidence or proof. In fact, he would show websites devoted to this concept, which in turn, are hardly non-bias. Remember that, when you read his stuff.

Despite his untasteful arrogance, it's obvious he knows alot more about the subject than you. Forget "climate change" because that is not the real issue. The issue is money, and Winston is completely right in the fact that COP15 is going to make a number of people somewhat richer. Imagine Enron, on a global scale. In fact the same names show up (Ken Lay) if you take a look at carbon credits. As for the scientists, of course they are not all a part of some conspiracy. But important people like the president of the IPCC stand to gain loads of cash, thankfully people are finally taking a look at their work

P.S. if you saw Winstons youtube link, you would also see he is alot funnier than you. YOU LOSE!

MaxWildersays...

There's no question that the profit motive is driving people on both sides. But when you have to guess whether oil companies are lying or the scientific community is lying, I think I know which one to pick. These accusations that scientists are all willing to throw away their dignity, honor, and careers for some grant money are preposterous. Sure, a few would, but the rest of the community would destroy them.

Only time will tell the real truth, but I am willing to support any measures that bring human society toward living in a sustainable way. One way or another, fossil fuels are on the way out. And if you think it's your god given right to rape the earth indefinitely, I can't wait for the day you shuffle off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssC77hapv0g

I don't see why you would reply to my comment since you obviously don't have anything more to say than your ignorant ranting. PM me if you would like a breakdown of your comment explaining why everything in it is wrong, I'm not going to waste the time if you refuse to listen. STUPID
