Oh, and that wasn't a Miyazaki movie, just a Studio Ghibli movie. It was written and directed by Isao Takahata, who is most known for his movie Grave of the Fireflies.
In Japanese culture Tanukis are pretty common and they are always depicted with huge testes. In fact when mario gets the racoon tail and learns to fly, that cape he uses, it's a ball sack. Honestly though the movie is highly playful and I would not think twice about showing it to a child.
