TED - 10 things you didn't know about orgasm

TED:

Call me a killjoy, but I was surprised by the constant immature laughter from the audience, so I have to wonder where this talk was held. Admittedly though, the titty-titillation was hilarious.

It was held at TED, filled with geeky little nerds. not the most mature of folks

I don't think the audience could be called immature for their response. The whole talk was designed to titillate, as well as inform. Ms. Roach was laughing quite a bit herself and I love nothing better than a lecturer who really enjoys her subject.

i'm in the middle of reading this book right now, and i can tell you that the entire thing is written with an eye toward making the reader giggle as many times per page as possible. her footnoted asides are some of the best parts.

whats with all this "i cant believe theyre laughing" snobbery

what are you assholes 14 and got your first period and are like, so mature!?

fuck that, this talk was designed to be entertaining. sex is fun and it can and should often be funny. its ok sweety, youll know youve really matured when your comfortable enough to show someone your butthole for giggles.

To all those who didn't think they should be laughing: Duh!

Listen again and listen to the way she's talking and the language used. She's out to make them laugh. Laughter in this case is a great way to make a difficult subject entertaining. She's a great presenter who understands her subject, the way it makes people feel, and how to use that to her advantage.

On top of all that, I so would.

It was meant to have humor. She could have presented all the same odd facts without any of the humor (or video clip) and it would have been pretty boring.

Kinsey's work was quite controversial, but groundbreaking. I never heard of the ejaculate-distance-measuring experiment though.

I hate being downvoted, so I want to explain why I'm such a killjoy about this - sex is a fascinating subject and being the perv that I am I practically never pass the chance to joke about it, but I just found this talk far more informative than comedic - and mind you, I didn't really find it illuminating either, since there were only a couple stories/facts that a sex-obsessed internet user couldn't have read by then. I realize there were a lot of jokes thrown in there, too, I just didn't find a single one of them funny (+ the speaker constantly laughing at her own jokes didn't help), which is why the audience came off to me as immature, nervously giggling at the slightest mention of semen.

P.S. That, and wearing shawls indoors. I just can't stand that.
