It some idea, Stripping is considered a talent to a few people... The most suprising part is that they actually allow this to be shown on basic tv, I thought the show was suppose to be child friendly...

This is pretty darn terrible. I have zero problem with nudity and sex etc. But there's a time and a place, and this show (from the clips I've seen, as I've never watched it) is a family show, and really, the family gathered around the tv to watch a woman take off her clothes in a suggestive manner? That's not good entertainment, that's teaching the objectification of women...

This was let on as PURELY a shameless ratings grab

If I could upvote the video and downvote the poster, I would. Similarly, if I had enough star power to strip the "Terrible" tag and add "Art", I would do that as well. This is not simply "stripping", it is burlesque -- Saying it objectifies women is short-sighted and saying it doesn't require any talent is flat out ignorant.

The major difference is that stripping is geared for sex and sex alone, while burlesque is designed to entertain and excite. Most acts stimulate the mind as well as the body via comedy or a touch of the bizarre, and the women involved in all of the acts I have seen are in complete control over the act and themselves. At no point is actual sex involved. Michelle L'Amour is an excellent burlesque dancer to boot; she is very experienced and teaches classes in the art.

I will give a bit of credit to the time and place argument. I'm not going to say this is harmful to children, as British television seems to have a more relaxed attitude towards sexuality and is better off for it in my opinion. However, I will admit that the argument could go either way. For the record, she survived this round (both men voted yes), but was kicked off in the second round because David Hasselhoff changed his vote to "no." His children were in the audience and he felt too guilty to vote her into the third round.

Eh, even if what she was doing can be called "art" in specific settings, it's still a cheap ploy in this context. She's using her feminine wiles as a replacement for originality and talent (and sadly, it worked in this video). I say talent because personally, I don't think the way she was doing it was particularly challenging or artistic. Maybe the dance would have gained more merit with me if she'd stripped in a way that was interesting to those who are not heterosexual males (or homosexual females). I wasn't particularly entertained or excited.

Things repeat themselves. Sometimes 25 years at a time.

The Gong Show, the de facto inspiration for the slew of buzzer-stop performances shows, was also victim to 'ratings grabs' or, just simply, contestants trying to stay on. Here's the best example:

After giving this another viewing, I agree that this routine isn't particularly challenging or original. She does execute it exceptionally well, however -- All the movements are smooth as silk and timed well. Honestly, some people find it hard enough to operate clothing, even in the absence of a soundtrack. I think her second routine was both more original and a bit more difficult, though it's appeal is also questionable (unless you're David Hasselhoff).

Not that I put much cred in the info either way, but I read "somewhere" that all the children in the audience were made to leave the auditorium for these, uh, "burlesque" performances and shots of kids hiding their eyes (why? kids don't have shame yet) were edited in later to make it seem worse.

And Brandi has a face like a catfish.
