In Spark, John J. Ratey, M.D., embarks upon a fascinating and entertaining journey through the mind-body connection, presenting startling research to prove that exercise is truly our best defense against everything from depression to ADD to addiction to aggression to menopause to Alzheimer's. Filled with amazing case studies), Spark is the first book to explore comprehensively the connection between exercise and the brain. It will change forever the way you think about your morning run--or, for that matter, simply the way you think.

Exercise = betters your...

...Oh look a pretty bird!

It may differ from person to person, but how much/long would you have to exercise per day to reap the benefits?

I ask this obviously because I hate exercising

In the video he said it's not been thoroughly evaluated, but the rule of thumb is 30-40 minutes of moderate intensity exercise 4-5 days per week, preferably in the morning. That's like a brisk walk.

Yes, he addresses this around 37:30. I can't do exercise per se either, I make it interesting by doing a brisk walk while listening to podcasts. Key point is probably to find something that's enjoyable, and get off one's arse. To me listening to podcasts this way is more fulfilling than lying down - where they tend to put me to sleep.
