If you look it up you'll find this is disturbingly accurate.

I suggest http://www.xenu.net/ as a first stop if you're looking for info about scientology.
Don't buy in to all this negative bunk about Scientology. Read a Scientology book and find out the TRUTH for yourself. All these naysayers have a pitch. It is actually a very cool, practical, and reasonable religion.
You can disabuse yourself of the bad PR Scientology has gotten by simply finding a book in Scientology that your are interested in and reading about it.
How typical of Scientologist. Your whole religion is based on buying books, auditing and suppressing any dissenting voices, even those that leave the Church of Scientology.

PS: My Thetans are all fine.
Looking through all the videos about Scientology on the Sift one finds that it's an evil and shadowy organization.
Most of the mainstream media also isn't positive about Scientology. An example is this story, where Scientology has a 64 year old engineer jailed for picketing their "church".
It's easy to object to Mormonism as well, but note that a lot of the bad stuff about Mormonism (polygamy, killing people) was dictated by the church itself, which has fortunately toned things down in recent years.
And one could do the same towards the Muslim religion, but it's really the more extremist sects of the Nation of Islam that believe that they must go out and kill all the infidels.
And don't think that atheists are blameless. They've done their share of persecuting those with religious beliefs.
All in all, it's not necessarily the entire religion itself that does the "bad" stuff, but rather the extremist parts of it. So don't be too quick to condemn someone for their beliefs when their actions and choices may not be so negative after all.
And run the chance of F#%^king up some strangers life...
no less fantastic than the outlandish tales told by all of the established "major" religions.
And for the Disciples of Dawkins, is it any less kooky than n-dimensional quantum physics or string theory?
No, it's far more kooky than either and so different as to be incomparable.
And once the State (or maybe country) outlawed polygamy the church also outlawed it. Also people commonly mistaken the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints as the same religion (RLDS, which does practice polygamy illegally, the name Warren Jeffs comes to mind (fucking psycho)), but they are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, and the RLDS church no longer even recognizes the Book or Mormon anymore, and the two religions are not even associated at all, EVER. Please do your homework before you bash any religion again.
As far as Scientology goes, they are fucked up, and i have done my homework on them. Just remember the last lines of this video: http://www.videosift.com/video/Scientology-Orientation-Video-watch-it-while-you-can "...or you can jump off a bridge or blow your brains out." What kind of religion would tell people to do that or join their church!? It's fucking ridiculous! Scientology is more like a Tax Exempt corporation because you have to buy the e-meter readings and buy the books to "move up" in their church.
My point in that post was that sometimes certain religious leaders lead their people poorly and give a poor example of their church beliefs. However, this should not be taken as a representation of the religion itself. In other words, don't condemn people who believe in Scientology (or dare I say, have been hoodwinked into believing in Scientology) for the actions of the Church of Scientology itself. It's the organization that is responsible for the horrible things referenced in the movie.
The same goes for Mormonism. People who have called themselves Mormons have done horrid things in the past (and some in present day), mostly under guidance of their leaders. However, as you pointed out, these people are not following the principles of Mormonism, but their own misguided interpretation.
I myself am Christian, and I am more than ready to admit that there have been those that call themselves Christians that have done just the same. The Spanish Inquisition is an apt example. However, Christianity should not be defined by what was done during the Inquisition, by those who certainly weren't following Christian beliefs.
Looking on Videosift, you can see all kinds of examples of how Christians are "those wacky, crazy, insane right-wing nutjobs," such as clips from the movie Jesus Camp. But I assure you those are not examples of what all Christians are like. The same goes for saying that all Mormons are polygamists and murderers, and that all Scientologists are there to manipulate the government and financial districts.
In short, I'm on your side here. And please don't make the assumption that I haven't researched deeply into the religions I've set as examples. Other than Christianity, the religions I've most studied are Scientology, Mormonism, and the Muslim religion. (Not with any devout curiosity, I'm afraid. Merely for knowledge.) That's not to say I know everything about them, but I know enough to make a point.
Hopefully that clears things up.
Joseph smith sold a plan to work for him. It developed, as all desperate mob scenarios may, into either decay, or fruition.... Frition of the Mormons in 2007 means, that the empire they created, justifies, the absolute, and unequivicable bullshit that is is, by her sheer size and scope
same with Hubbard's little empire.....he left another
shit- stain/blessing, for this paradigms' crap shoot, and for the delight of their lambasters, bufooners, and critics.....Call it a cosmic joke, or the unwilling hoards' program, to elude consciousness' cry,
"Human beings PLEASE!! Can you please pull your head out of that elephant's ass!!???"
"Take the M, out the middle, and whaddya get??? MORoooooON! Or as bugs would say, a Pepsi-ownin', blonde wife-havin, undergarment-wearin', travelin'-by-twos', Ultramaroon!
