Edeotsays...What a dumbass.
EDDsays..."Acute exposure to mercury vapor has been shown to result in profound central nervous system effects, including psychotic reactions characterized by delirium, hallucinations, and suicidal tendency."
Don't worry, he's probably done this before.
Deanosays...Well I hope he lives. I don't know what the "experiments" were though.
Stormsingersays...It's not like it's absorbed through the skin...if it was, I'd likely be dead by now. I used to have a test tube full of the stuff I played with on a regular basis. Cool stuff, but unless you're boiling it, it's just not that dangerous. :🤷:
dystopianfuturetodaysays...Hope this guy doesn't have any open wounds on his hands.

But that was cool, so who cares.
gorillamansays...I was waiting for him to lick his finger.
Asmosays...Actually, all he would need is a simple fan blowing out the window (or more advanced, a gas hood) and he'd be fine, elemental mercury (quicksilver) does not absorb well through the skin although it does produce toxic vapours in low concentrations.
Mecury Oxide powder or fluro tube inner coatings are far more dangerous because their ease of inhalation.
dannym3141says...Indeed to all the nay sayers.. my dad's a physics teacher and 20 years (or whatever) ago they used to handle mercury and let the kids play with it in a little tray. In fact when they took the floorboards out of one of the chemistry labs, it had a pool of mercury under the floorboards about an inch thick from all the spillages and broken thermometers etc.

Shoulda jumped in and waded around!
ponceleonsays...Well, it doesn't sound lethal, but this doesn't make it sound like prolonged exposure is good either:
