ok. Wiki says the leader takes 100s of milliseconds to reach the ground before the discharge. It also says the successive "strokes" are 40-50 milliseconds apart. I'm guesstimating that the video shows lightning slowed by about 50 times.
The only thing more awesome than this would be to see this in some kind of 3-D model. When I see the stringers make loops, I wonder what they are really doing. Also, a timer for the film would be great.
that's amazing... the little "sparks" make their way toward the ground, and the first one that touches gets the lightning strike. the lattice is almost like a snowflake; it's so erratic. great image
There is a sense of understanding and recognition when watching this, like we have seen it but not assimilated it consciously when experiencing a lightning strike. ROCKIN!! awesome!!
