Slow Mo of Shot Gun Tank Shells--Amazing Camera Work

from http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/munitions/m1028.htm: The Tank Cartridge, 120mm, Canister, XM1028, is a tank round comprised of 1150 (est.) tungsten balls, which are expelled upon muzzle exit. There is no fuse on this round. While the dispersion pattern increases with range as the velocity of the balls decreases, the dense tungsten balls are used to minimize the velocity fall-off. This program responds to the USFK urgency of need signed by the CINC in Dec '99. RAPT Initiative Funding to be used for 6.0M in FY02 to accelerate development by one year earlier than previously planned.

My guess on the camera is that it must have been set up using the laws of physics. You could punch in the expected velocity, and the thing would be activated on ignition and swing left at a set speed.

Wow! This video gets better and better as it goes! The ending was humbling to see how effective it really is. I'd like to see the Westboro Baptist Church protest a military funeral with this puppy guarding the front gate.

What an utterly gruesome weapon. When I see things like this, I'm reminded that it's equally as effective to reduce an enemy's will to fight as it is to eliminate his ability to fight. Perhaps more difficult and time-consuming, but certainly more humane. Admittedly, this is probably less horrific than those 105mm flechette rounds, but it looks like it would rank pretty high.
