Sarah Palin says Pipeline is "God's will, so pray for that"

Speaking in the church where she was baptized, Ms. Palin tells us it's God's will to have a pipeline built.

"What I need to do is strike a deal with you guys as you go out throughout Alaska — I can do my part in doing things like working really, really hard to get a natural gas pipeline." Palin said. "Pray about that also. I think God's will has to be done, in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that."

update: State records show that Palin submitted a travel authorization for a quick round-trip visit to attend the June 8 graduation of the Master's Commission program at the Wasilla Assembly of God, the church where she was baptized at age 12. The only other item on the agenda for that trip was a "One Lord Sunday" service involving a network of Mat-Su Christian churches earlier that morning at the Wasilla sports complex.

The records show Palin flew from Juneau to Anchorage on Saturday, June 7. She returned to Juneau that Monday afternoon. The plane tickets cost the state $519.50, and she claimed an additional $120 for meals and other expenses.

Looks like she'll be writing the State of Alaska a check for $639.50 to correct this "oversight" in the near future. *sigh* Republicans.

This is shameful. Does this qualify as blasphemy? Not being a religious man, I can't speak intelligently on the subject (neither can anyone else...), but it seems like an extremely offensive and insulting thing to say. God loves oil? Oil? what the fuck?

Allow me, then: What she said was perfectly acceptable, I'm sure in the context she was speaking in. She is a master speaker in any venue, be it the local bar or the neighborhood church. Palin 08'

You are being sarcastic, right? Okay, I get it now. You silly old dog, you almost got me. Ha ha, of course no one would say such a thing and mean it.

I've often tried to use the "god's will" excuse. It never works.

I Love it when they use the "God's Will" line with shit like this, hehe. I mean come oooonnnn do you really think God sits around wondering how he can help us destroy the beautiful planet he created for us(if you religious that is). Oh or segregate and accost his children with hatred and belittlement. But whatever let the ignorant people of the world tear each other apart and leave the peaces for the smart ones to rebuild. :-D

Fuck, god doesn't give a shit about this planet.

He is like that contractor you hired to make your database, every time you ask for maintenance he says "I created it... now you deal with it."

He is probably trying to fix that recursion loop that is broken over in the rings of Uranus.

If we keep sending him emails (prayers) to his help desk.. he may as well just wipe the earths C: Drive.

I believe the reasoning works like this:

If I am "right with God," then anything I want is in accordance with His Will.
I want a gas pipeline.
Therefore, it is God's Will to have it built.

^Dogmatic law. Maybe Loki and Bartleby should have made it into the church...

if prayers are requests to god,
and something is already god's will...
then whatever is the point in asking god to do what he, in his perfect wisdom had already planned on doing?

Just to show my self-promoting side: in this same speech Palin also said Iraq invasion and her job is god's will, too.

While I haven't formed an opinion regarding this Alaskan nat gas pipeline, I do think CNG - as a substitute for Middle East oil in powering cars - has some merits. Knowing now, thanks to Student Council Pre...er, Alaskan Gov Palin, that this $30B project has the endorsement of GOD himself (or herself, just to hedge my bets) my opinion in its favor has solidified. I assume that HE (SHE) also has a reserved cabinet-level post in the potential McCain/Palin administration, perhaps Secretary of DOE (given HIS/HER energy credentials) or higher. Seriously, folks, if Obama's former pastor Jeremy Wright is scary, this should should be mortifying! Obama's strategic error is over-estimating the average American voter's intellect (yes, Barrack, we ARE stupid!), and I suspect McCain will win by a narrow margin - with or without help from the Supremes. If so, I WILL, MOST DEFINITELY, PRAY FOR HIS HEALTH!

As a Christian I find the words of this woman offensive. Beware of politician who use the name God to gain an advantage. Did she ever learned the 10 commandments?

"You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not acquit anyone who misuses his name."

This commandment prohibits not just swearing but also the misappropriation of religious language in order to commit a crime, participating in occult practices, and blaspheming against places or people that are holy to God.

you know, recently i've been reading alot of naomi klein and chomsky thinking would obama really make that much of a difference? does it really matter who is in power anymore? and while i think the answer is (unforunately) probably not.. i just really don't want this person to have any sort of say in how i should live my life, or how my government should spend its money. seriously, i hate this stuff. it makes me so angry. i think the republicans are going to win again and martial law will prevail (by the way, did u know that martial law was reintroduced by the founder of Hewlitt Packard as deputy secretary of defense on the nixon administration?). under the guise of 'homeland security' you, as americans, will see further intrusion of your privacy by your government. your children will be fed lies on a daily basis at schools and their school will become mostly funded by corporate sponsorship. drilling for oil will continue and your national parks will get smaller. censorship will be slowly introduced into mainstream media.
