An undead, vampirish boy (a dead brother) floating outside of the bedroom window, while smiling and scratching at the glass and asking to come in.

Salem's Lot was a 1979 TV miniseries based on Stephen King's vampire novel, Salem's Lot. It was directed by Tobe Hooper and starred David Soul, James Mason, Lew Ayres, and Bonnie Bedelia. (Thanks Wikipedia

Wow! Absolutely! I had so many nightmares after this, must have been 6 or 7 when I watched it. A local cat had the perfect timing to start scratching my window shortly after seeing it. You cant beat real honest childhood terror

Even though I've spent the last twenty-odd years trying to forget this mind-fuck scene, I'll give it an up vote.

oh yeah! I remember this playing on Halloween once as a kid...sitting on the floor in front of the tv eating trick or treat candy. Good times.

I remember I was age 8 when this was on tv and being specifically told by my mom not to watch this because it will give me nightmares. So I watched it, and I still have nightmares from it.

Anytime I hear or read something that says Salem's Lot I flash back to this. I rue that night I didn't listen to my mom.

BTW, thanks for resurrecting this little childhood terror, between this and that damn clown scene from Poltergeist, it's a wonder if I'll ever get to sleep now.
