Sorry, should have said. It's from That Mitchell and Webb Look, a new show on BBC2 from the guys that did Peep Show. I'm utterly in awe of David Mitchell; I think he's the funniest man in Britain at the moment.

boy i can´t stand those english german-war-jokes anymore. it´s like the only thing their boulevard like "The Sun" has to offer. It was horrible at the time of the soccer world cup. obviously the English are deeply traumatized.

If you visit England as a German i swear AT LEAST ninety % of all people you meet will greet you with "Heil!" or will clap their heels. It seems whereas every other country as succeeded in coming over the war the English haven´t.

It just makes me sick.

Conan, I really don't think it's fair to associate this clip with the English tabloid's stupid and unnecessary attacks on the German people. The joke here is in no way that all Germans are Nazis. Frankly, you're the one making broad generalisations about the character of a nation and you have no right to accuse anybody of bigotry.

I'm english conan, but I'm also european. If you bypass the tabloid rubbish you'll find that most people can't be bothered to bring up the war. It will not be forgotten but times have changed. Anyway man, we english are german, french, scandanavian and so on. What I'm trying to say in all this ramble is it's the people in power who create divisions, I don't know I'm tired........ and you are right to take the piss on the football front, we're shite.

hey people, i think i have to sort of apologize. I am influenced by things i experienced with Englishmen.

But still i think the jokes and all the humour around WWII is a typical thing of England. But hey, we Germans make a lot of fun of our Polish neighbours. Obviously we are in no way any better.

I hope peace is restored in the sift, remember: conan loves you all :-)

Every German I ever met was great-- I'm thinking specifically of my friend Klaus. Intelligent, funny, a little self-deprecating in a good way. I realize I'm generalizing, but really, I've had several friends who were German and they were all really nice guys.

every german i ever met was able to get past stuff like that.. i've been in clans and guilds and all sorts of stuff with germans, and i've probably made jokes about WW2, WW1 all the time.. usually, if i said something about hitler, my favourite german friend would go "OI, stop talking about my grandfather!"

the thing is, i'm english and i don't hear many WW2 jokes at all.. not jokes actually poking any fun at germans, like jimmy carr "i will never forgive the germans.......for passing my grandfather over for promotion year after year".. most of the jokes i've ever heard were that sort of thing - the joke being irony, and nothing actually to do with germans.. it could have been "i'll never forgive saddam housein"

in fact the only guy i've heard directly mock the germans over WW2 is al murray, and the joke in that case is his ignorance.. he plays a very very stupid man, a stereotypically ignorant loud mouth, and that's 90% of the joke

anyway, old news.. i just felt the need to defend our comedians
