budzossays..."Hoser" has an interesting etymology. Back in the day when a lot more people played hockey on outdoor rinks, the losing team was relegated to resurfacing the ice by hosing it down. So it's a uniquely Canadian phrase. It was also used more in the remote places like Sault St Marie and Thunder Bay than along the border.
