Or maybe it will be in the near future if this cold war rhetoric between the former and the present superpower continues. A while ago Russia sent two of these to Venezuela. Actualy, for the first time since the Cold War russian nuclear bombers landed in South America and practiced maneuvers in the Caribbean.

the Tu was by no means a mere dupe, but a decided improvement in many respects.
just that, even short-timer non-rocketjocks in the usaf, like me, would recognize the similarity.
and hopefully now see it as a testament to the mutual admiration, and paranoid brinkmanship, of the cold war.
