Russian 5th generation fighter

The first Russian 5th generation fighter is scheduled to have its first flight in 2009 and enter service with the Air Force subsequently. It will incorporate technology from both the Su-47 and the MiG 1.44, test platforms for the PAK FA project. It will be stealthy, have the ability to supercruise, be outfitted with the next generation of air-to-air, air-to-surface, and air-to-ship missiles, and incorporate an AESA radar. This machine will use a completely new engines and be able to perform unique maneuvers.

While this is an amazing aircraft it is not a 5th gen bird. The Russians are working on a 5th gen but the only two currently flying 5th gens are the F-22 and F-35. Again, not putting this plane down in any way. If you have to give a title 4.5 generation is more apt.

We'll know it's combat ready when it's punched a crater into the runway at the Paris Airshow.

Also, I hope it does better than its hanger-queen predecessor, the Mig-29 -- one hour of flight for 10 hours of hanger time.

Hm...most of what is presented in this video is misleading, and some of it is an outright falsehood.

You've got to consider the source for a minute. When the Stealth Bomber was developed, the public had no idea it existed until it was running missions in Desert Storm. If we hadn't had that war, we wouldn't have known until we did have one (Afghanistan?). During the Reagan administration, one tactic against communism was to convince them we had such amazingly advanced weapons that they would go bankrupt trying to keep up (see "Star Wars"). This included orbital lasers that would make us impervious to ICBM's, etc.

So, being as open as they are about this, which of these two tactics of military intelligence does this resemble?
