The MIDI ruined it for me.
I like genuine, not forced.
She's a 13 year old girl, who performs all over the world for people. This is why she does all the flips and smiles etc. I'm sure she gets most of her guidance from her parents, so don't be so hard on her.
13.
I'm sure when she's 16, she'll be a lot different. But for now, she's better than half the drummers in los angeles.

Enough with the freaking stick flips already.

I didn't really post this for there to be a contest of "the best" young drummer ever. I'd rather watch a lot of different young musicians at many different stages of awesomeness.

Yes, you did:

I've said it before and I'll say it again - too many whiny-assed high-minded armchair critics on the sift.
"Oh, look at this girl. Who does she think she is? 13 years old? Pfffft. I know a 12 year old who is better. Therefore she is fail. Disgusting!"
No wonder so many of you spend time on here...no friends in the RW.
Good on this 13 year-old girl. Great skills. And she looked like she was having fun.
Yes this is true. This man has no dick.
That said, as a midi nut I can tell you there really isn't a good midi of YYZ out there. Guitars in midi are a bit of an artform and none of them had it.
In those instances however some girls just decide to do the entire thing solo...

(to be fair, the drums were pre-done, I thought she started out doing them in realtime but later one she is clearly not. EDIT: She us controlling multiple drum tracks with her feet, so while not realtime, she is controlling which drum patterns are played in realtime).
Still for 13 she is damn good, better then I was at 14, though granted I didn't start playing until 14 and didn't have a set 1/2 that good until I was 18 lol.
As the comment says 'far better then anyone twice her age' isn't remotely true. Any 20'something drummer with a whiff of talent could drum circles around the girl. But if she keeps it up she'll be simply awesome by 20.
Nice vid, nice drumming. This girl is here to stay
I can't imagine that Niel had that level of drummer to idolize 30 some odd years ago...
Gene Krupa! Max Roach!
There were loads of sick, sick drummers back then.
Answer: The first time I remember feeling a desire to play the drums was while watching the movie The Gene Krupa Story, at the age of eleven or twelve. The film’s dramatization of his life and Sal Mineo’s portrayal managed to make the idea of being a drummer seem exciting, glamorous, elegant, and dangerous. I started beating on the furniture and my baby sister’s playpen with a pair of chopsticks, and for my thirteenth birthday my parents gave me drum lessons, a practice pad, and a pair of sticks. They said they wouldn’t buy me real drums until I showed that I was going to be serious about it for at least a year, and I used to arrange magazines across my bed to make fantasy arrays of drums and cymbals, then beat the covers off them!
And don't forget Buddy Rich:

i prefer ronald jenkees if we're playing Youtube musical Star Search.
The only reason i'm saying this is because two of my friends are TEFL teachers, and they teach privately after school too. And they have both commented on the fact, over the years most of the young asian kids they are teaching go from one lesson to the next until bedtime. Sometimes they love it, sometimes they despise it, all depending on their personalities I guess
Well there's setting the bar high!
