Rottenseed talks to his college sex teacher

Rottenseed couldn't get laid in a women's prison with a fistful of pardons. *Ba dum dum CHING* Thanks folks, you've been a wonderful audience, I'll be here all week. And try the fish.

The video itself, really good, the painful in joke crud between members, lessens this hugely, almost to the point of not being worth upvoting.

But the repeated starting and stopping of the bowchiawow music wins in the end.

...does it lessen the video? It doesn't change the content and kronos knows that I'll happily be the butt of his joke for an attention-getter. No biggie. Plus it's a way to immortalize me when I'm long gone!

I think it does lessen the sift of the video. Rather than being a nice record of this video on the web along with this wonderous discorse related there unto, we're left with a title referencing two people the majority of sift viewers will have no idea of, and make reference to some trait of one of the people that even fewer viewers have any idea of.

Surely it'd be better to make a proper sift with correct title etc. and then make a sift talk topic with all your in joke references pointing to it?

I don't see what the fuss is. In order to fix the title you propose changing "Rottenseed talks to his college sex teacher" to "A guy talks to his college sex teacher." Doesn't make much of a difference, does it? Why change a funny title that still explains in general what's going on in the video to a boring title that explains in general what's going on in the video?

I see what both sides are saying, but I'm leaning towards Spoco's opinion, personally.

Although it's harmless and the tags will pull up this video regardless, the whole 'joke between members' thing is a bit annoying.

EDIT: A good example, I send links to sifts to my friends and family on a constant basis, all of whom probably never read video comments and aren't really a part of the Sift community, but still enjoy the videos nonetheless. What does the title do for these type of viewers?

kronosposeidonsays...

Yeah, the title ruins the whole thing. People won't be able to laugh at it because of the title. Outsiders will be SO bewildered at who this "rottenseed" character is, because people who use the internet have no freaking clue how web communities work. They'll have no inkling that there might be an "in joke" here, because I'm sure in the entire history of web communities no one has ever done anything like this before. This will bewilder them to the point of being unable to appreciate the video's humor. All because people who use the internet can't figure things out like this.

This will make them not only hate this video, but this site too. Whoever posted this video should be ashamed of himself for bringing about the ruination of this site. Shame, shame, shame!

^Your sarcasm gets your point across, and yet, makes it seem as if you're taking the discussion a bit too seriously. It was a simple point to a discussion about whether or not titles that reference the community take away from a video.

Definitely not a big deal at all, and as I said earlier I understand the other's perspective on it. So rude sarcasm is a bit unnecessary in this case. But um, thanks for your input anyways?

kronosposeidonsays...

^Look, I'm not the only taking this seriously. When someone says they can't upvote a video merely because of a HARMLESS title, then it's obvious that I'm not the only one. And that's fine; that's southblvd's prerogative. Hell, people can downvote the video just because of the title for all I care. However some people made it pretty clear that they find it annoying, and in not so subtle terms. And that's fine too. Three cheers for free speech!

However don't be surprised if I respond forcefully to their comments, especially when they assert that in-joke titles are "painful". Three cheers for free speech!

Yes, I think there's entirely too much personality going on here. And I think we should lose the avatars and stick to numbers. I have never met this 'rottenseed' in my life, and he probably just cut me off on the highway. I don't want to take any chances engaging strangers on the internet, so stop it with the personal crap. God only knows how many criminals we could potentially be interacting with here anyway.
