I don't think Paul outright called him a fascist - but perhaps the intimation was there subtly.

You know subtlety - like placing a subliminal cross in the background of a candidate's commercial to try and give the message that they are Jesus' choice for President.

Actually, Ron Paul didn't call him a fascist - maybe it was alluded to, though. Haha. The Sinclair Lewis quote was, "When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." He said it probably wasn't a fair assessment. Still, he pointed out that Huckabee could be using the cross to allude to being the only Christian presidential candidate. I don't know. Merry Christmas!

I think what RP is eluding to is that it's ok for a politician to have faith in God. But to then use that faith in God to get other Christians to have faith in him as a politician is a dangerous thing. I believe part of the reason Bush has gotten away with so much is because of his huge evangelical following that does not question his actions because they have faith in him as a man who has faith in God.

Also talk about pandering to the religious right...he's just feeding into the myth of how "Christmas is under attack" in this country and how he's one of the good ones that knows that "Jesus is the reason for the season". If you think it was just about saying "Merry Christmas" your being naive.

That cross is border-line subliminal. I like how the entertainment-journalist stammered, then tried to clarify their (big media) new #1 (supposed?) candidate. Did he look left at his handler? were they making a "slit the throat" gesture at him? They didn't even talk about the 6 million dollars.. we'll get to that "in a minute or so." Couldn't get him off the screen fast enough.

I registered as a Republican, but that was so I could vote in the primaries for Ron Paul. Anything to take a vote away from annoying bible thumpers like Huckapee, Shit Romney or Ghouliani.

Some supporters are like me: centrists who feel Republicans' strategy over the last 8 years has been misguided and has produced measurably very bad results.

The one and only possible audience is people who associate being christian with being a good person, stupid as that is. But whatever, use all the symbols you want to get the symbol-minded to vote for you.

I think QM might be hinting at the fact that the political system (not the people) dont like what he is saying so yes i would have to agree that he is digging his own grave.
