Well, I still think he's the most interesting candidate, even though I really don't track with a lot of his views re. gun control and abortion.
He doesn't start his speech until 2:40 btw. He drops the 911/2nd amendment bomb at 6:15.

If he had any integrity he would realize that abortion is a States right issue, schooling should not be national, and the nonsense of homeschool and private online high schools do not deserve our tax dollars to make some fundie corporation rich at the expense of communities and local public schools. I agree with 2nd amendment, but come on, you really think allowing everyone on an airplane to carry a handgun?? Really?? Is this any bit reasonable in any regard? I mean sure, militias, right to bear arms, promote the hell out of that. But how does that apply to interstate travel in an airplane? The concept is arm populace to prevent tyranny and threats foreign and domestic and protect property and liberties. How do you go from that to interstate travel has the right for every half-wit to carry on board a tool that can potentially bring down the whole plane? Where does that nonsense stop? 18 yr old high school kids have the right to arm themselves in schools? How about criminals in jail? (why is that outlandish?)
Two complete independent thoughts. And why the hell do you think pilots are somehow qualified. It's one thing to say that airlines could put guards on the planes, or arm stewards, but really, a pilot is doing their own thing. And probably and most qualified guerilla warrior. Plus there are only about two people on the plane that you do NOT want in a shoot out, that being the two that can land a plane. You want someone in the back row of the plane with a scope and a rifle with clear view.
I was pointing out what I've heard him say in other videos, which he did not state clearly in this video.
while I might not agree with Ron Paul's stance on several major issues, I think he is the most consistent candidate because all of his views are derived from constitutional principals. He also has the most consistent voting record in line with his views.
here's a really simple and interesting way to find out which candidates share your views without the name recognition getting in the way.

"Let me assure you as an OB doctor, and as one that has studied history, and economic policy and politics for a long time, I can assure you that life begins at conception."
WTF? What a complete non sequitur, and a despicable attempt to convince his audience that his theological views have a rational basis. (There is no basis for choosing conception as 'the moment life begins' other than a theological basis, and any philosophy undergraduate will gladly explain that there is no such thing as 'the moment at which life begins'... but I digress.)
The last thing the world needs is another religious nutbag for President of the US.
And yet... he's still the only sane choice for Republican candidate. What a sorry state of affairs.
but... I've heard him explain it differently before when he wasn't talking to his base and he described it as a state issue than a federal government issue (like almost all of his view points)
The last thing the world needs is another religious nutbag for President of the US.
Um, tell me you've noticed that ALL the candidates are religous nutbags. there is not one atheist in the bunch on either side.
Ron Paul is not saying the pilots or passengers or the crew should be able to bring guns. What he says is that the airlines should be able to protect themselves - whether the pilots, stewards or guards should carry guns - it's upto them to decide. It's their property, they know best how to protect them. Let's assume for a moment, that an airline does allow passengers to bring guns. Do you really think that their business will survive ?
Though he didn't make it clear, he has said elsewhere, that abortion is a state issue. By getting rid of Roe vs Wade, he is giving more power to the states to decide on that. From his website: "I am also the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade by removing the ability of federal courts to interfere with state legislation to protect life."

(But then he has the cowardice to suggest that his stance on abortion is somehow based on facts to which non-doctors/historians/economists/politicians aren't privy.)
I think Ron Paul doesn't really have a chance, Mike Huckabee came off more of a winner then Mitt Romeny who basically bought the poll by sinking nearly 2 million dollars into adverts, tents, food and buses to garner as many people as possible.
I really don't believe that it is for cheers. It is his own personal belief.
And althought I do not agree with his views on abortion, I still think he is one of the best things for the US. Smaller govt is the way to go and you won't have to fork out thousands of hard earned money to be flushed down the toilet by departments too large to handle.
