Mullen is the greatest skater, ever.

Also, I'm not so sure I agree with that EIA tag.

If he was wearing ankle socks he wouldn't have been nearly as good.

He didn't make one mistake that whole time.

...and check out his shoes. Those are some sweet kicks.

Rodney was cool... then came pool and vert skating, which was pretty rad,... then street skating took to the air... handrails and tricks over gaps... combining technical skating with huge-balls, giving us the glory that was Jamie Thomas in 'Welcome to Hell'...

Not that its fair to compare guys from different times, and its also kind of like comparing breakdancing to parkour, very different things. If Mullen's invented it on the flatland, Jamie did it while flying at 20mph down a set of 15 stairs... I know which one I think is cooler.

I had a copy of this on VHS back in the 80s. And I probably wore that tape out. :-D

Oh my does this take me back to the days...

I remember trying those moves on a cheap supermarket deck with a fiery snake on the bottom (and failing miserably of course). Moved on to a Claus Grabke and then a Nolan Ryan deck. Still without a nosetail back then and all with the ever so fashionable fish shape...

My favourite movie of the time was "Gleaming the Cube" (called "Gleaming Heart" in Germany) and I had neon shoelaces in my LA Gear shoes. Rodney did a double for Christian Slater in that film which can be found here.

This inspired me to post the opening scene of Gleaming the cube featuring a very young Christian Slater and Tony Hawk.
