Rockslide at the Ocoee (Rte 64 in TN) caught on video

While cleaning up a small rockslide, a much bigger one occurs, completely obliterating the efforts. And the road. This is at the put-in for one of the southeast's most popular kayaking and rafting meccas: The Ocoee.

Fortunately cameras were rolling, and no one was hurt.

How can anyone be taken seriously with such a goofy accent? Admittedly, I've got a prejudicial problem with that but...come on! It's just plain silly.

I'll forgive you because I grew up a yankee, and I know how hard it can be to overcome that prejudice. For example, when I was in college, we had an engineering professor who, in addition to being a former NASA employee, had also worked on the Apollo missions. He also had one of the thickest Texan accents I've ever heard. It was very odd to hear "you can solve these differential equations using a simple LaPlace transform," in that voice. Eventually (actually, rather quickly) I got over it and heard the words more than the voice.

I've been in the south for quite a few years now, long enough that when I go back up north I wonder "what's wrong with these people!?!"

I'm a yankee-born southerner as well. Born in NY, live in Atlanta. Been in the south since '94 and many times, I still can't understand what the hell they're talking about.

My favorite is when someone from the carolinas goes to change the oil in their car. They'll pronounce "oil" as though it rhymed with "girl". "I gotta change the earl in my coor." It's too fuckin' funny.

Oh no you don't. This is nature in action! A rare event when considered from the scale of human time. And for a camera crew to be on hand as it occurs? This is something everyone should see!

Also, because erosion is the evolution of the planet, and because the footage captures what could have (but thankfully not) resulted in dozens of deaths, *eia.

Perseverance pays off. It took over 3000 views, a beg and a promote just to escape the queue, and hours later, look where we are!

Someday the sift will learn to trust me.

As a Southerner born in Alabama (yes, they have hospitals) and raised in Georgia (yes, we have schools) his accent is pretty soothing - almost like a "comfort accent," if there could be such a thing. A deep South Georgia/Florida everglades accent would be much harsher and is sometimes difficult even for native Southerners to understand.

morons, shame that area is to be closed forever....I've ridden that road on a sport bike and loved to ride that area of Georgia...accents are what make us all unique.....northern accents are as funny.....like how fa {far} is it to the ca {car}
it is a loss of a great recreation area..maybe they will get it back open one day...
