Riot Control Training - The Molatov Cocktail (0:33)

He looks surprisingly non-plussed.

I think, that one of these to show the guys what will happen when a Molotov hits near you is a good thing.

Something you should show to people once during training. But any more and something bad is bound to happen.

You would think riot police would be training how not to get hit in the head with Molotov cocktails...

If you need training on how to duck when a hard object is thrown at your head; one that's on fire, no less; then you should probably find yourself a nice desk job somewhere.

I believe I was the tender age of 15 when I learned first-hand how explosive Molotov cocktails really are. My buddy and I grabbed an empty Pepsi bottle (yes, they still had 16 oz. glass bottles in those days) and filled it with a mixture of gasoline and some homemade hooch sitting in my dad's basement, and then stuffed a cloth in the top. We proceeded to a bridge over some railroad tracks only a few blocks from my house. (Yes, I lived by some railroad tracks. Guess which side of them I lived on.) I lit it and threw it down into some tall grass close to the tracks, really not expecting much. Boy was I wrong.

When it landed it burst into an explosion just like it did in this video, only bigger. It made a fiery mushroom about 10 feet high. We had to run down there to stomp out the fire, because the grass was very dry and it was spreading quickly. Fortunately we managed to extinguish the flames, and we were chastened by the whole experience.

After that we stuck to egging cars on the interstate.

^you're right, "nonplussed" means 'confused'. I totally blew that one. Learn something every day. That's twice I've been wrong on the internet now.

Well that's it then, your reputation is in tatters. My only question is, how will you ever be able to face yourself from now on?

That's iffy, Marine. Probably a lot you do in the services that could be considered eia, in that case. Like being a fireman? Nordlich, you sound like a fire-guy, what say you?

There is a lot that might be considered eia - like sleeping next to thousands of pounds of explosives on a daily basis. But having a Molotov cocktail deliberately thrown at me ain't one of 'em.
