They're called u-min and I think they may actually be robots.

Wow, from my RSS feed I thought this might involve actual robotics like a competition or something and got excited.
After watching it, the crazy head thing at -2:15 gets my vote.

Still hasn't evolved much. They're doing slight variations on all the old robot moves that guy on Solid Gold did in the 70's.

Actually it has evolved, Enzoblue. At least in this ad, it has made the leap to choreographed dance, involving more than 1 person.

Ya, but they still do all the same moves. Like the bent over and stiff arm start up, the arm wave thing, the shuffle walk... nothing is saw was really innovative.

It may not be innovative, but on a technical level it's pristine; almost unbelievable.

If you did not think this was innovative. WATCH AGAIN! They choreograph and perform what looks like video effects where 3 are slow-mo and the last one is free in real-time, they fast forward and rewind in performance synchronized so that it looks like an effect, etc.

It starts out very traditional but gets more and more advanced if you pay attention to the whole image of the four of them together.
