The joke on its own was sort of funny, but having watched the Extras clip makes it much better

I thought it was funny without even knowing she'd been on Extras - it's basic Hollywood logic, do a big emotional film and if you press the right buttons, the awards will virtually bury you. I guess the whole "Jews controlling Hollywood" stereotype means the holocaust will press those buttons all the more.

EDIT: Yeah, Wedgie's link pretty much sums up what I was thinking. In fact I remember walking out of the cinema after watching The Pianist and thinking it had Oscars written all over it.
