Ram Dass in the early days, being interviewed about the effects of LSD. Ram Dass spent a lot of time in India after he started using LSD, and at the time of the interview, he seems to have embraced Eastern philosophy regarding the point of awareness.

I'm with ya, Benjee and I don't think Ram Dass is an advocate, now, either. He went to India to explore the spiritual experience that LSD opened him up to, within a spiritual setting, afterall, and that has been his life's work ever since.

his cabal got whacked a few years back when a fire destroyed some homes did it not???

Have always wondered what the next day would be like if everyone on the planet had a simultaneous Hoffman experience...i.e. dosed but not knowing when or how long exactly.....Ever read Riverworld??
Hooray for Bucky Fuller, whom Alpert quotes here, the most sane models for civilization ever ignored and suppressed, and for te forn quote remembered from Leasry, that pshycho...."Trust Your Nervous System"

kinda like the cover of the Hitch hiker's Guide...."Don't Panic!"

Reading his latest book "Still Here", you get the impression that he doesn't need drugs to get to a place of spiritual awareness, that regular meditation practice is all he needs, now. He leaves out a few details, I guess. www.drugpolicy.org/library/ramdass.cfm

I suppose marijuana is a safer option for him at this stage of his life, he's in his seventies, afterall and also a stroke survivor. If he hadn't dedicated so much of his life to programs like the Death and Dying project and the Hanuman foundation, his approach to spiritual awareness evolving from an expanded consciousness would ring kinda hollow.
